Katharine Lyle Nelson, of Bluefield, passed away, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Charleston Area Medical Center. Katharine was born to the late Dr. James A. Nelson and Katharine "Kitty" Nelson. Katharine was a graduate of Bluefield High School and Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She retired from Mercer County Schools, where she was a Speech Pathologist for many years. Katharine was a fierce lover of animals.

She is survived by her brother Jim Nelson and his wife Carol; Two nephews, Adam and Andrew; One niece, Jackie.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned for May, 2025. Please feel free to make a donation to your favorite rescue in Katharine's memory. As per her wishes, a private burial was held in Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Green Valley, Bluefield, WV.
