John Wayne Wimmer Sr., 88, of Princeton, died peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2024, with his loving family by his side, at his daughter's home where he resided. Born March 21, 1935, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late John Harvey Wimmer and Dovie Wimmer. Mr. Wimmer was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1952. He had worked in construction all of his life, being a pipefitter & steam fitter. Mr. Wimmer was a member of the Pipefitter/Steamfitter Local Union 565, Parkersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by four siblings: Linda Hatfield, Winnie Lynch, Marion Sheets & Carl Wimmer. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Zetta Mae Clark Wimmer, four children, John W. Wimmer Jr. (Pam Hixon), Debbie Wimmer, Jerry Broyles (Sharon) & Pamela Dillow (William), 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren along with one sister, Ruby Hypes.  A host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of John Wimmer will be held 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Jamie Mattox officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until the service hour.  Graveside services will be held Thursday morning, 10:00 A.M. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 9:45 A.M. Family friends will serve as pallbearers.
