John Carl Spires, 79, of Princeton, died Thursday evening, October 12, 2023, in Morgantown following a lone illness. Born May 25, 1944, in Norfolk VA., he was the son of the late Melvin John "Buddy" Spires and Ruth Tribble Spires. After graduation from high school, he entered the service to serve with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. John retired from Alcoa Howmet as an inspector for airplane parts with more than 33 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two siblings, Gale Spires Ratcliffe and Lee Schultz, niece Karin Ratcliffe and great-nephew Tyler Davis Cappa and brother-in-law, Marvin "Pete" Ratcliffe. Those left to cherish his memory, his very special nieces who loved and cared for him, Kandice Browning and husband Jim, Kristina White and husband Mike, Kimber McMillion and husband Curt, great-nieces, Krystle Angle and husband Jon, Michaela Butler-Ansley and husband Matt and Tori Ratcliffe Cappa; Great-nephew, Hunter Warner; Six great-great-nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them, Kylah Angle, Bo Butler, Gracyn Angle, Adalynn (Addie) Butler, Bryntlee Angle and Caison Ansley. The family has honored his wishes, he has been cremated, then will be inurned in the Ratcliffe Family Cemetery near Princeton.
