Obituary

John L. Robinson, Sr., 97, of Princeton, died peacefully Saturday, May 18, 2024, at his home with family at his side. Born November 19, 1926, in Charleston, he was the son of the late Elton Robinson & Hazel Francis Lane Robinson. John graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and had attended Morris Harvey College. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy with the Sea bees. John was a professional salesman with Guthrie-Morris-Campbell for 39 years until his retirement. John was a faithful member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, and teaching the adult Sunday School Class for many years. John served as the Princeton Senior High School Booster Club President for 20 yrs., as well as filming the PSHS football games for two decades. John was inducted into the inaugural PSHS Sports Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service in 1995. John was also an avid golfer and played into his 90's. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lois Jean Dotson Robinson, and by a son, John L. Robinson Jr. Those left to cherish his memory, his five children; Donna Jenkins & husband David of Cary, NC, Sharon Elmore & husband Roger of Chapel Hill, NC, Jo Ann Winfrey & husband Gary of Smith Mountain Lake, Va, Debbie Pack & husband David, and Steve Robinson, both of Princeton, daughter-in-law Connie Robinson of Columbus, OH, and 13 grandchildren & a host of great grandchildren, along with his church family. Services to celebrate the life of John Robinson Sr. will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 23, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Dan Thyng and Jim Nofsinger officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.  Friends may visit with the family Thursday from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be John Pack, Brian Pack, Kyle Swim, Ben Faulkner, Jerry Hawks and Phil Remmers. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com .
