Obituary

John Andrew Cox, Jr., 78, of Cox's Cutoff, Princeton, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his residence. Born, October 17, 1945, in the Summers County area, he was the son of the late John Andrew "Andy" Cox, Sr. and Margaret Louella Holdren Ramsey. John retired as a supervisor for Bartlett Tree and Asplundh Tree Cutting Service. John enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid outdoorsman. John had a "green thumb" and used it to beautify his mountain side home. He loved anything related to animals. A favorite pastime of his was going coon hunting. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and eating good food. He was particularly fond of banana pudding. John's "firecracker" personality brought much joy and laughter to everyone in his presence. His smile was contagious and will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Gail Sarver Cox; two sons, Terry Glen Goodman, Sr., Timothy Ray Goodman, Sr., his son-in-law, Tony Meadows; and three sisters, Margaret (Seay) LeMaster, Donna Johnson and Rosella Howery. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Teresa Lynn Goodman, Gladys Gail Meadows and Margaret Earnestine Lopez; sixteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. John has been cremated with no services at this time. A celebration of life ceremony will be held for John at a later date.
