Obituary

Jimmy Wayne Vest Sr., 66, of Princeton, died Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness with family at his side. Born August 13, 1955, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Gilmon Vest & Zella Thomas Vest. Jimmy has proudly served with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a former employee with McDonald's on the Oakvale Road in Princeton, a self-employed painter and truly loved working on lawn mowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a stepdaughter Cindy Vanover, step grandson Chris Vanover, along with five siblings: Otis, Lucky, Bobby & Doris Vest, & Judy Mitchem. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Betty Sue McAfee Vest, son Jimmy Vest Jr. & wife Heather, stepdaughters, Anita Whittaker, Lisa Bailey (Junior), Robin Starkey (Mike), 2 grandchildren Brooke & Todd Vest,10 Step- Grandchildren, one great grandchild Landon Coy, 6 step- great grandchildren. Siblings, Betty Whittaker, Joyce Hamilton, Peggy Vest, Ruby Fitzko, JoAnn Burke, Eugene Vest & Steve Vest; Shelby Duke, mother of Jimmy, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge the kindness and love offered by the Princeton Rescue Squad, PCH Home Health, Dr. Baiden & Staff, Dr. Chambers & Staff, The staff of PCH, CNA Brittany Harvey. His special friends, Jackie Robbins, Stanley May, & Diana Crawling. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 3, 2022, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Chris Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.  Friends may visit Friday, from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Cody Bailey, Jody Bailey, Dakota Collins, JR Fitzko and Barry Perdue. The Vest Family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
