Jimmie Ronald French, 86, of Wellswood Road, Athens, died peacefully, Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Born September 3, 1936 in Rocky Gap, VA, he was the son of the late Raymond Lee French and Marie Lambert French. Jimmie was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his Lord and was a faithful member of the Athens Church of Christ. Jimmie had worked for Rockwell International, Keesling Construction and retired from Maintenance Supervisor for the Town of Athens where retired with 16 years of service. He enjoyed working with his hands in carpentry and woodworking and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Myirul Lee French; Five sisters, Eula Hawley, Louise Townley, Evelyn Arnold, Vera Dixon and Della Jones. The family would like to thank T.J. and Janet from Hospice Compassus for all their kindness shown to the family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Dorothy Lou Turnes French; Two daughters, Kim Foley and husband Gary, Lisa Hale and husband Scott; One son, Raymond Andrew French and wife GeGe; Grandchildren, Rebecca Foley Terrell (Drake), Boss Foley (Kayla), Christina Hale, Abby French, Erin French (Josh Davis), Nicole Cook, Keith Cook (Kerry) and Vanessa Buchanan (David); Great-grandchildren, Tripp Terrell, Raelynn Davis, Kaiden and Michaela Bobroski, Jude Cook, Addi, Letti, Luci and Sonni Buchanan; Host of nieces and nephews that Uncle Jimmie loved very much. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jimmie Ronald French will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Ministers Eddie Via and Gary Lamie officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday (today) from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be sent in Jimmie's name to: Christian Acres 1351 Evangelism Rd, Bluefield, WV 24701 or to Hospice Compassus, 1330 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.
