Jimmie Nelson Brown, 74, of Amherst, OH, formerly of McDowell County, died Friday, October 22, 2021, at his home with his family by his side. Jimmie was born on August 23,1947, in Welch, WV, and raised in McDowell County until enlisting in the Navy in 1965. Amherst has been his home for the last 53 years. Jimmie proudly served in the United States Navy for 30 years during both the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm as a Navy Corpsman. He was employed at Ford Motor Company as an inspector for 30 years. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ and a member of the VFW, American Legion, Lorain AMVET. He was a member of the local chapter of the Cleveland CPOA. He was also a past master of Stonington Masonic Lodge and Blue Steel Masonic Lodge of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Pearl Justice Brown. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Sue Jones Brown; Loving sons, Todd Brown of Atlanta, GA, and Shane (Heather) Brown of Amherst; Loving grandchildren, Taylor Schultz, Kayleigh Schultz and Cole Brown. Military graveside rites will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 2, 2021, provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the Memorial funeral Directory. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
