Jesse E. Kennedy Jr., 84, of Rocky Gap, VA, formerly of Mercer County, died Friday, October 3, 2025, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born May 21, 1941, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Jesse E. Kennedy Sr. & Ruby Ellen McFarland Kennedy. Jesse was a graduate of Rocky Gap High School. He was a former employee of North American Rockwell. Jesse served an apprenticeship with Al Land Jewelry in Bluefield for a few years. He then opens jewelry stores in Matoaka and Princeton, he later owned & operated a Bridal Shop in Wytheville VA. Jesse served with the U.S. Army. While his health permitted, he enjoyed bowling, dancing, archery, and was well known in the area as a gun collector. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Glenn Kennedy & Barbara Hardin. Those left to cherish his memory, his wife Jane Louise Keaton Wood Kennedy, three children, Russell Allen Johnson &wife Teresa Ann, Sherry Lynn Heming, & David "Moose" & wife Barbara, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild. Two siblings, Ace Kennedy & wife Rose, Ruth Keene & husband Winfred and a host of nieces and nephews, and his four legged friend Rambow. Funeral services will he held 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 10, 2025, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Robert Waker along with his brother-in-law Winfred Keene officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield Virginia.
