Jerry Ray Clowers, 64, died peacefully in his sleep in Florence, Italy, at the start of a two-week vacation in Tuscany. He is survived by his wife Laurie (Cantalupo) and daughter Alexa of Holly Springs NC, mother Ginger Clower of Princeton, WV, Uncle Tommy and Dora Goings, Aunt Gypsie and Richard Calvi, cousins Tandy, Robin, Butch, Andrea, and Sally Ann, and many other cousins. He is also survived by Rocky and Annette Cantalupo who loved him as a son, Uncle Jeff Wilson, and Laurie's sisters Candice and Susan Cantalupo, and nephews, Zachary, Nigel, and Christian Leighton, and Rocco Johanson. He will also be missed by his little "buddy" Rocky, who the family rescued from the SPCA. He was predeceased by his father Patrick Clower, grandparents Shelby and Louise Goings, and Uncle Jerry Goings. Born on November 13, 1958 in Princeton, West Virginia, Jerry was a 1977 graduate of Princeton High School, where he shined as a football standout. Always an athlete, Jerry was recruited to play football at Concord University in Athens, WV and by Marshall University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-med. He met the love of his life and soulmate in Atlanta while finishing his chiropractic degree at Life University. He and Laurie married in 1987 and welcomed their "angel baby" Alexa Danielle in 2001. Jerry's first job as a Doctor of Chiropractic was running a sports medicine clinic in Chantilly, Virginia near Washington, DC in 1989. There he was proud to be one of the treating physicians for several well-known players for the Washington Redskins. He and Laurie moved to Holly Springs, NC in 1998, so she could fulfill her career goal of becoming a news anchor/reporter at WRAL-TV. Jerry switched careers and became a successful specialty pharmaceutical sales representative, first for Merck Pharmaceuticals, and then Syneos and Amgen. He won multiple awards for sales and leadership. Jerry was a parishioner at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Fuquay-Varina, and a member of Devils Ridge Golf Club in Holly Springs. Friends and family will remember his crazy sense of humor, his gift for gab, his passion for pranks, his love of sports, cars, and movies, and yes, those gorgeous dimples! Mass of Christian burial will be held at Noon, Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Harrison Street, Princeton, with Father Sebastian DeVasya as the celebrant, Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com . The Clowers family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road.
