Obituary

Jayme Kathleen Holbrook Carter slipped quietly from this life into the arms to God to be beside the love of her life on October 16, 2022. Born on May 2, 1958, Jayme was the youngest of five daughters born to parents, Elinor Hobby Holbrook and James Wrical Holbrook. Jayme attended Bluefield High School and spent most of her life in the Mercer County area. She worked as the traffic coordinator and continuity director for WHIS Radio and WHIS TV and later for Adventure Radio. She also worked as the sales director for the Twin State News Observer and TCI Printing. Jayme was a gifted writer and artist. Her love for her art moved her to leave the commercial world and pursue a fulltime art career. She found a love for horses and became well known for her equestrian art completing commissions for horse owners and horse lovers throughout the country. Her love for the seaside and visits there with her husband brought a new dimension of seaside art and seascapes to her vast repertoire of artistic abilities. Some of her last art endeavors and possibly her best were her canine portraits. She had a love of dogs that drew them to her, and she even passively pursued two little strays in her neighborhood until one day she found and rescued her beloved Sully and Chance. After a friend saw a picture of a beautiful dog Jayme agreed to try painting a portrait of the animal. After that painting, she immortalized many family dogs both living and deceased capturing their beauty and their souls on canvas. If there is a home in this area with a painting of a beautiful canine soul on canvas it was probably painted by JKCarter. Jayme was preceded in death by her parents and by her soul mate and the love of her life, Louis Carter. She was also preceded by three sisters: Terry Wehnau of West Palm Beach, Florida, Nancy Holbrook Herndon of Abingdon, Virginia and Susan Jaye Holbrook of Bluefield, Virginia. Left to remember her is her sister Linda Holbrook Montgomery and husband, LD and brothers-in-law, Marty Wehnau and Charlie Herndon plus several nieces and nephews and her best boy, Chance. A celebration of the life of Jayme Holbrook Carter will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 at Memorial Funeral Directory, 645 Athens Rd, Princeton, WV.
