Janet Cecilia Jones,79, of Princeton, died suddenly Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born October 5, 1945, in Laurinburg, NC, but she grew up in Raysal, WV. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Manford Ball and Margaret Geneva Cardwell Ball. She was a proud graduate of Big Creek High School and Concord College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Later in life, she earned her Masters and Doctorate from Capella University.

She began her teaching career at the age of nineteen in one-room schoolhouse in McDowell County and taught at several other schools in the area. Janet later taught high school English in Tazewell County and eventually inspired many students in the elementary gifted program in Mercer County. Janet loved cats, coffee, watching Dancing with the Stars along with following Tom Brady and his football career.

She was a devoted daughter, sister mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.

Survivors include her two children, Jason Jones, Angelica Stanton and husband Wes; Two grandchildren whom she adored, Hannah and Harper; Three siblings, Betsy Simpkins (Mike), Randy Ball (Trish) Rick Ball (Debbie); Several nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved also survive.

The family has honored her wishes. She has been cremated and there will be no services.
