James "Jimbo" Thomas Posey III, 62, of Peterstown, West Virginia, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on August 21, 1963, in Princeton, West Virginia, he was the son of Phyllis Conner Posey and the late James Thomas Posey Jr. Jim proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Iraq War. He had a deep love for his country and was proud to have served it. He was known for living life to the fullest and for the joy he brought to those around him. Jim loved basketball and even played semi-professional basketball while stationed in Japan. He also had a deep passion for watching his Kentucky Wildcats on the court. He loved to fish, spend time with family and friends, and was often the life of the party. He had a special way of making people smile and will be remembered for his laughter, energy, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children, Jenna (Jason) Walter, Callie (Jacie) Gibson, James Thomas Posey IV, Heather Palisi, Garrett Boillot, Kylie Prawl, and Hayden Prawl. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna (Craig) Linkous and Lynn (Allen) Pendleton; his niece, Candace; and his beloved grandchildren, Keagan, Kayden & Kyler Walter and Nevaeh & Maverick Vincent. Military graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday. April 13, 2026, at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin Va. with full military honors. A time of sharing and gathering with the family will be on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton.
