James (Jim) Sheppard, 96, of Olive St., Princeton, WV died peacefully in his sleep in Lerona, WV on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.  Born April 10, 1928 in Tamcliff, WV, he was the son of the late Russell Allen Sheppard of Rupert, WV, and Delphia Carr of Roanoke, VA.

Mr. Sheppard was the founder of Mercer Glass Company, Princeton, WV and was known as the "Glassman" throughout southern WV.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.  He loved motorsports and being with his family.  Mr. Sheppard was a veteran having served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Landers Sheppard and siblings Allen Sheppard of Hampton, VA, Ronnie Sheppard of Hopewell, VA and sister Lee Kragor of Denver, CO.  Those left to cherish his memory are his three children; Steve and Debbi Sheppard; Kathi and Paul Riffe; Greg Sheppard and Misty Hudgins, one brother, Theodore and Ginger Futscher, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with Russ Alvis officiating.  Entombment with military rites will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
