“Jim” Croy

James D. "Jim" Croy, 79, of Princeton, died peacefully Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, at his home.
Born May 8, 1946, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Arnold B. Croy & Gladys Shields Croy.
Jim was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1964.Jim had served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Blue-Gray Chapter 628 of the Vietnam Veterans. He had worked for Flowers Bakery, Carter Machinery, Conn-Weld and Splice-One. Jim was well known throughout southern West Virginia, he loved music and was a member of Country Pride Band. He never met a stranger or a tractor he didn't like. Jim will be remembered for his story telling and corny jokes. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Larry Croy, Linda Delker & JoAnn Ragen.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Patsy Carter Croy, One son, Princeton Fire Chief, Charlie Croy & wife Christy, one granddaughter that he loved and adored, Leah Croy, one brother Harry Croy & wife Betty, His special sister in law, Beulah Croy, who was his caregiver for the last two months, Special niece, Karen Beth Hill & husband Ted, Special great nephew, Justin Hill, along with a host of nieces and nephews. His special four-legged friends, Sparky & Thunder.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Gerald McKinney & Danny Gunnoe officiating. Friends may visit the family from 11 AM until the service hour at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Southwest Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA. Those attending the graveside service will meet at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road no later than 11:30 A.M. to go to the cemetery.
