James Edward Ellison, 73, of Princeton, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born August 5, 1951, at Mt.Hope, WV, he was the son of the late Lee Ellison and Della Gross.

Jim spent the majority of his life working in and around the coal fields. While his health permitted, he was an avid landscaper and gardener. Jim proudly served his country from 1971 until 1973 in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Ellison and Larry Ellison and his step-mother, Bobbie Jean Ellison. Those left to cherish his memory, include his loving wife of 28 years, Marise "Recie" Vest Ellison, of Princeton; One son, Devin "Josh" Holiday and wife Jessica and a grandchild, Kaya, all of Pittsburgh, PA; Siblings, Jon and Tonya Ellison, of Princeton, Lynn and Bobby Lowery of TN; His mother-in-law, Sadie Vest; Sister-in-laws, Patty and Steve Davis and Vickie and Bruce Hutchens; Brother-in-law, Bill Vest of Princeton; Special niece, Kay and James Pierce of Shady Springs; Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor James Drake officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton with military services. Friends may call Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the service time at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Vest, Steve Davis, Austin Ayers, Michael Davis, Justin Hill and James Pierce.
