Iris Wanda Underwood, 89, of Lee Street, Princeton, died peacefully, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Princeton Heath Care Center. Born, April 1, 1934, in Matoaka, she was the daughter of the late George Guy Rutledge and Ora Mae Anderson Rutledge. Iris was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. S he loved her Lord and her family very much. Iris was a homemaker, enjoyed travelling to the Great Smokey Mountains and was a member of the Nondenominational Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Glen Allen Underwood, one granddaughter, April Dawn Begovich, and her sisters, Edith Crotty, Helen Grogan, Garnett Austin, Elwida Martin and Shelvia Rarick. Left to cherish her memory includes, her devoted daughter, Glenna Johnson and spouse, Larry; Grandson, Chad Johnson and spouse, Donna; Great-grandson, Tyler Johnson and spouse, Hanna; Great-great-grandson, Parker Tate Johnson; Three sisters, Joyce McGhee and spouse George, Brenda Belcher and spouse, Stanley and Sharon Ford and spouse, Jerry; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 15, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Larry Dyer and Blake Bivens officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
