Obituary

Hilda Aline Addair Fuller, formerly of Princeton, WV, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston WV.  She was 92 and only twenty days short of her 93rd birthday. Survivors include sons Joe (Debbie) of South Charleston, Ben (Debbie) of Charlotte, NC, Grant (Chris) of Severn, MD, and one daughter Deanna (Mike) of Wilmington, NC.  She is also survived by her half- brother Johnny of South Bend, Indiana, and two half- sisters, Rita of Paynesville, WV, and Wanda of Detroit Michigan.  Hilda leaves 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ira Fuller, a daughter Donna, and a son Larry. Hilda was born December 6, 1931, in Litwar, WV, to James and Thelma Fisher Addair.  She spent her formative years in and around Litwar and the Iaeger, WV, area. As an adult, she talked fondly of growing up in the coal camp. Hilda attended high school at both Iaeger and Hurley, VA.  She was quick to tell everyone that she was in the Beta Club and that she was the best student in Algebra class. Hilda and Ira were married in December of 1947. They lived in the Woodman and Paw Paw communities of Kentucky and Virginia. It was during this time that their first three children were born. In 1954 the family moved to the Iaeger area in McDowell County where they had three more children. All of Hilda's six children attended public schools in Iaeger and all six graduated from Iaeger High School.  She once noted that from 1955 until 1980, she had at least one child in the Iaeger school system. Hilda and Ira moved to Princeton when he retired in 1988.  They loved to walk, sing, play Scrabble, and garden.  In 1992, their yard was voted the Prettiest Yard in Princeton by a local newspaper. When Ira passed away in 2000, Hilda continued to live in Princeton.  She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School, sang soprano in the church choir, and assisted in Vacation Bible School. In 2021, Hilda moved to The Havens Assisted Living Facility in Princeton. Later she moved to the Kanawha Place Assisted Living Facility in Charleston, WV, where she resided until her death. Hilda's family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care she received at The Havens and at Kanawha Place. They also acknowledge the wonderful and compassionate treatment she received from the staff at Hospice Care in Charleston. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Hilda Fuller will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 20, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr Henry Clary officiating.
