Herma Jean Cordle, 93 years young of Princeton, formerly of Parkview Drive, Bluefield, VA died peacefully Friday evening, August 11, 2023, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley with her daughter at her side. Born July 27, 1930, at Peach Creek, near Logan, she was the daughter of the late Herman Minton & Ella Minton Scott. Born in the depression, she endured many hard ships throughout her life, but always arose with best of attitude, showing love, grace and dignity. Herma was a beautiful person, inside & out. Being a homemaker most of her life. She was active in her church and had a heart for the widows. When Herma ventured out into the work force, she helped open the W. T. Grant Store and then, the first K-Mart on Cumberland Road in Bluefield. She retired from Kroger Store in Bluefield VA while working in the produce and floral department.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Hobert A. Cordle Jr., daughter Cathy Lynn Thompson along with two brothers, Bill Minton & Anthony Patrick. Left to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter & husband, Debra Morrison (Paul), Son, Timothy Cordle & wife Terri, Son-In-Law, Roger L. Thompson, 8 beautiful grandchildren, 3 special great grandchildren, 2 very special sisters-in-law, Mollie Minton, of Logan, WV & Julia Patrick, of Winter Haven, FL. She was a loving mother, daughter, wife, grandmother & friend. Many thanks to all the wonderful nurses and caregivers that took such very special care of her, our family will never forget your love and kindness. Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield Tazewell Road, Bluefield, VA. with Pastor Dan Thyng officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr, Beckley, WV 25801.
