Helen Margaret Carter, 93, of the Old Athens Road, Princeton, departed this life Saturday morning, November 11, 2023, at Glenwood Healthcare Center, Princeton. Margaret was of the Christian faith. Born July 6, 1930, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Vada Carter. Margaret was a graduate of Athens High school and the Mercer County Vocational Tech Center with a unit clerk certification. She worked in the ICU at Princeton Community Hospital for 19 years. She exercised daily at the Princeton Health and Fitness Center. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her ex-husband, Sam Jones, Jr., two sisters, Lois Belcher and Stella Carter and a brother Curtis Carter. Survivors include five children, Deborah Goodson (Donald), Cathy Smallwood (Marvin), Larry Jones, Charles Jones and Sam Jones III, two sisters, Ruby Christian of Princeton and Alice Mann of Roanoke VA, and two brothers, John Carter of Tampa FL, and Harry Carter of Mt. Airy, NC. Margaret also had 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 10:45 until 11:45 A.M. on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Graveside services will be held at Noon at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Pastor Jim Simmons officiating. The family wants to express their gratitude for all the care givers that treated Margaret during her last days. The family also is very grateful for her neighbor, Arita Ratliff, for all her care and support of Margaret over the years. In lieu of flowers give to your favorite charity.
