Hazel
Blankenship
Oct 21, 1937 — Apr 23, 2026
Hazel Blankenship, 88, of Mocksville, formerly of Princeton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, surrounded by family and the hope and comfort of her faith in Jesus Christ.
She was born on October 21, 1937, on Burke Mountain. Hazel was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and sought to live her life in a way that honored Him. She believed deeply in the power of prayer and trusted God through every season of life. Her life reflected faith, perseverance, and gratitude.
Music was one of Hazel's greatest joys. She loved playing the guitar and singing, sharing songs of faith that uplifted and encouraged those around her. Whether in church, among family, or at home, her music was a heartfelt expression of the hope she carried.
Hazel also loved the beauty of God's creation, especially animals, and found joy in caring for them. Her gentle spirit, servant's heart, and steady faith were evident to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward Steele and Dollres Tedder Steele; her husbands, Charles Tommy Jones, Arthur Robert Corner, and Sherman Cochran; and her sisters, Bertha Glass, Ruth Davis, and Stella Griffith.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Russell "RC" Blankenship; her brother, Marvin Steele (Judy); her children, Homer Jones, Karen Jones Holland, and Brian "Keith" Corner; her adopted children, Christina Pitzer and Lucas Cochran; and her guardian child, Chloe Jacobs. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as other children she welcomed and loved as her own, all of whom were precious blessings in her life and whom she prayed over faithfully.
Though her family and friends mourn her passing, they find comfort in the hope of Christ and in God's promises. Hazel's faith was steadfast, and her love will continue to be felt in the lives she touched.
Services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, May 7, at Full Gospel Assembly Church, 611 Fayette Street, Princeton, WV, at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Don Keene officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
