Obituary

Harry David Brown

September 28, 1950-June 29, 2026

Harry David Brown, known to all who knew and loved him as David, passed away on June 29, 2026, surrounded by the family who meant everything to him.

David was the kind of man you never forgot. He never met a stranger and could make a friend wherever he went. He loved fiercely, gave generously, and had a heart big enough to make everyone feel like family. If someone was in need, he was there, often giving far more than was ever asked of him.

He found happiness in life's simple pleasures—working in his garden beside his beloved wife, spending time outdoors, loving on his dogs, Bandit and Luke, watching NASCAR, cheering on the WVU Mountaineers, listening to Fleetwood Mac, or simply sitting and catching up on the day's news. But nothing brought David more joy than his family.

He often said that he would go through every hardship in his life all over again if it meant ending up exactly where he was—with his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren. To him, they were worth every struggle, every sacrifice, and every challenge life had brought his way. They were his greatest blessing and the center of his world.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Hamilton Brown, and his mother, Nellie Northington.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of more than 40 years, Oleta Aileen Brown; his sons, Michael David Brown and wife, Addie, of Woodbridge, Virginia; Daniel Keith Brown and wife, Gerrylene, of New Bern, North Carolina; and Joshua David Brown and wife, Ashley, of Bluefield, West Virginia. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Paige, Claire, Brandon, Bayne, and Zooey, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

David will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace. The love he gave so freely will live on in the family he treasured and in the countless lives he touched.

The family has entrusted David's care to Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center in Princeton, West Virginia.

A celebration of David’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Friends may visit the family Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, where David will be laid to rest beside his beloved father.
