Evelyn Frances Steele, 102, of Princeton, passed peacefully early Friday morning, June 10, 2022, to enter into the presence of her Lord & Savior. Born December 17, 1919, at Maitland, she was the daughter of the late William White and Bertha Warner White. She was educated in McDowell County and was of the Church of God faith. On Thursday, prior to her passing, she was able to return to her home place in Gary to spend the afternoon. Evelyn loved working crossword puzzles, reading and travel at the drop of a hat. She had owned Lonnie's Ashland and worked at the National Dollar Store in Welch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Lonnie Steele, two children, Steven Waddell & Ramona Eller, along with five siblings. Those left to cherish her memory, her children, Lonnie Steele Jr., Jeannie Shaw (Carl), Ava Yates (Roger) with whom she made her home, Theron Steele, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren. One brother Charles White. Services to celebrate the homegoing for Evelyn Steele will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with her son-in-law Reverend Roger Yates officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Her family will serve as pallbearers.
