Evelyn Ruth Barie Helmandollar, 96, of Princeton, died peacefully Wednesday evening, July 24, 2024, at Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA. Born November 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Cassell and Goldie Perry Cassell Godfrey.

She was educated in Mercer County and was a lifelong resident. Evelyn was a member of the Princeton First Assembly of God Church on the New Hope Road for more than 60 years. While her health permitted, she loved to cook, sew and always looked forward to helping at the church dinners and making candy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Aught Landen Barie, her second husband Buford Helmandollar, one daughter, Melinda Neely and two siblings, Louise Date and Kenneth Cassell. Those left to cherish her memory, three children, Donald Barie (Billie), Susan Carver (Guy) and Stephen Barie (Verna); Step-son, Kerry Helmandollar; Step-daughter, Sandy Collins; Eight grandchildren; Six great-grandchildren; Two siblings, Neva Blankenship and Richard Godfrey (Scarlet).

Graveside services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Garden in Princeton with Evangelist Rod Hedrick officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton.
