Obituary

Earl Thomas Presley [known by many as Tom/Tommy], 86, of Bluefield, VA, died peacefully Sunday, September 7, 2025, at his home with his grandchildren by his side. Born May 9, 1939, in Anawalt, he was the son of the late Crockett Harrison Presley & Louella Jarrett Presley. Earl was a graduate of Gary High School. In 1956, Earl joined the U.S. Air Force; he proudly served his country for 24 and a half years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He served during many conflicts and the Vietnam War; receiving numerous medals, citations, decoration and awards. Following his career in the military, he was employed by the Mercer County Board of Education for 10 years as a Master Plumber. He was a member of Landmark Church of God in Princeton. Earl loved his family; nature; working in the garden; listening to country music; watching Gunsmoke; and taking his grandchildren to Pipestem State Park to see the deer. Earl took great delight in helping other people and had an incredible sense of humour. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Valerie Cynthia Tozer Presley; a daughter Helen Marie Presley; along with eight siblings: Martha, Edward, Clarence  and Ralph Presley, Sally Overbaugh, Mildred Snelgrove, Edna Kwiakowski, and Stella Barker. Survivors include: two children, Susan Faye Presley ,Thomas John Presley, and foster daughter, Gillian Maureen Hillier; 2 grandchildren: Lyndsey Harris-Stephenson and Ash Harris; 1 great grandchild, Frederick Stephenson; 2 siblings, Judy Reynolds and Linda Wyatt; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 13, 2025, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Jeff Valentine officiating.  Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. until the service hour. Following his service, he will be cremated and will be interned with his wife and daughter at the Swanlow Park Cemetery, Winsford, Cheshire, England.
