Obituary

Douglas H. Coburn, of Goat Farm Road, Bluefield, died peacefully, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. Born, December 7, 1941, in Winding Gulf, WV, he was the son of the late Hubert Coburn and Nellie Wimmer Coburn. Doug was the owner/operator of the Douglas Exxon Station in Brushfork, sold homes for Jim Walter Homes and was in the Truck Delivery business. He enjoyed spending time on his farm, his favorite place and playing music with his favorite friends, Larry Gilpin, Larry Farthing and nephew, Jerry Shinault. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, three brothers Jack, Don and Mason Coburn and two sisters, Anna Marie Coburn and Pauline Coburn. Left to cherish his memory are his loving family, Two sons, Michael Coburn and Patrick Coburn; Two grandchildren, Jessica Coburn and Dr. Amanda Coburn; One sister, Elizabeth Shinault; Former wife and friend, Sandra Coburn Perdue; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Doug will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 15, 2022, from the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road with Captain Dennis Smith of the Salvation Army officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com .
