Donna Gale
Meadows
May 3, 1949 — Jul 2, 2024
Donna Gale Meadows, 75, of Christiansburg, VA, formerly of Princeton, WV, passed away on July 2, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA after a year-long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Born May 3, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Alvin "Pete" and Glenna DeLung of Princeton. Donna lived her life with unending compassion, love, and a relentless loyalty to her family and friends. She deeply enjoyed spending her time in the service of others and was always a constant source of comfort and reassurance to all those who knew her. She refused to let others carry their burdens alone, and her ability to uplift, encourage, and console, combined with her contagious laughter, were more than enough to brighten even the darkest days. Donna embodied the very definition of Biblical love as defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres". Donna possessed a true heart for people and an unmatched ability to provide a listening ear, a safe space, and a loving embrace. Her selfless character and the unconditional love she shared with others will undoubtedly be Donna's enduring legacy. After obtaining her cosmetology license from The Summit School of Cosmetology in Wytheville, VA, Donna became a prominent hairdresser in the Princeton-Bluefield area, having worked at various salons over the years, including the JCPenney Salon in Mercer Mall, and even owning her own salon, the former Creative Touch Styling Salon, on Halls Ridge Road in Princeton. Even after moving to Christiansburg, VA in 2001, Donna maintained her clientele in Princeton, many of whom became her close friends. After retiring from salon work, Donna continued to maintain her status as a beloved hairstylist for her family and friends. She deeply enjoyed helping others find the beauty within themselves. Donna possessed a true zest for life and a love of travel and adventure. Her favorite destination was certainly the beach as she relished the opportunity to feel the sea breeze and sink her toes into the sand. She enjoyed creating memories with her family and friends, and she had an undeniable knack for event planning, resulting in many cherished holidays and family events. She was happiest when surrounded by her beloved family and her many close friends. Donna held a steadfast and unshakeable faith in God, and she was fervent in devoting a portion of every day to reading the Word of God and spending time in prayer. Donna believed each day was a gift and a blessing, and even during her various health struggles, she refused to relinquish her positive attitude, sense of humor, and belief in the power of prayer. Donna was a lifelong member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton and also attended GraceLife Baptist Church in Christiansburg, VA after moving to that area. Left to cherish Donna's memory is her husband of 57 years, David Meadows, of Christiansburg, VA, also formerly of Princeton, WV; Two daughters, Heather Bostic and husband Greg, and Holly Carroll and husband Ernie, all of Princeton, WV; Two grandchildren, Zachary Meadows Shelton and husband Skylar of Christiansburg, VA, and McKenzie Carroll of Princeton, WV; One sister, Barbara Wood and husband Jim of Princeton, WV; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and many close friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr. John King and Reverend Dan Thyng officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
