Donald Anthony Oakley, 67, of Maybeury, died suddenly Friday, December 29, 2023, at his home. Born August 23, 1956, in Welch, he was the son of the late Chauncey Bayne & Doretha Oakley, & grandparents who raised him, Cleveland & Allie Oakley. Mr. Oakley served his country proudly for more than 22 years, having served with the U.S. Marines & the U.S. Army. While serving, he received numerous decorations, medals, badges and campaign ribbons. Following his service to his country, he was employed by the McDowell County Board of Education. He was a member of Abundant Life Ministries in Maybeury. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by several siblings: Jamie Downey, Loletia Morris, Chauncey Lee Bayne Jr., (Dewey), & Jeffrey Logwood. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 34 years. Robin Marie Graves Oakley, one daughter, Desirae Nicole Manns & husband Isaiah, two grandchildren, Jeremiah Emmanuel Manns, & Elijah Malachi Manns. Brothers & Sisters; Germaine Bayne, Coretta Saffold, Danita Bayne, Stephanie Smith, Cheryl Donovan, Monica Bayne, Geraldine Carolina (cousin who was raised as his sister). A service of celebration will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Abundant Life Ministries in Maybeury with Pastor Roger Walton officiating. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour.
