Delma Daris Swim, 88, of Richfield Lane, Salem, VA, formerly of Princeton, died Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem. Born July 23, 1934, in Matoaka, she was the daughter of the late Ward Benton Bailey and Lorraine Mae Godfrey Bailey. Delma was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked for Maidenform, the Princeton Motel, Mercer County School and was the Presbyterian faith. Delma enjoyed her yard work, flower gardens and loved dancing all her life. The most notable with her great grandchildren whom she called her "little angels". Her love and care for the many children in special needs program in Mercer County Schools was a passion that filled her heart with comfort and joy knowing they knew she loved them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glendle Hubert Belcher, second husband Kyle Alfred Swim, three children, Debra Darlene Belcher (infant), Glendle H. Belcher, Jr., Douglas Gale Belcher, a grandson, Troy Thomas Belcher and two sisters, Patricia Ann Duncan Hayes and Geraldine Sue Wilson. "I don't have the courage to go to heaven and leave my Family", were a part of her last words. Left to cherish her memory are loving and devoted children, Debbie Sue Belcher Collins and husband Mike, Harlan Kyle Swim; Siblings, Jack Ward Bailey, and wife Jacqueline, Frankie Lee Bailey and Bernice Bailey Hood, Donna S. Belcher Fleshman (Doug) and Glenda J. Belcher (Glenn). Grandchildren: Justin (Katie), Travis (Jessica), Trista (Brian), Kayla (Lance), Justin (Trish), Jake (Kayla). Great Grandchildren Olivia, Luke, Anna, Ava, Abigale, Toby, Bryanna, Landen, Axel, Jensen, Sophia, Tyler and (one on way) Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Delma Swim will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday August 31, 2022, from the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with Pastors Robert Belcher and Wesley Belcher officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 A.M. to the service hour at the funeral home. A cancer survivor many times and love of children, In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org
