Della Blair Meade, age 85, died on November 10, 2024, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. She was born on November 29, 1938 in Whitesville, WV, the daughter of Melda Spry Blair and Lamir Blair. Della was married to BF Meade for 62 years (widowed in 2017). They lived and worked in Michigan (where she was employed as a welder) for many years before moving back home to WV.

Della was known for her strength, independence, kindness, and love for her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, canning (including making the best apple butter) and collecting angels. Della was a devoted Christian and loyal member of the Nazarene Church (her church family was special to her). Della will be dearly missed by her family and friends for whom she loved and cared for immensely.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Shovonna Morgan, Marie William, and Stella Faye Blair, brothers Roger (Maxine) Maynard and Lamir Blair Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Lacey Eugene Adkins and Mason (Mary) Ernest Finley: Grandchildren Stacey Adkins and Jamie Marie Ingle: Five great grandchildren; Two great-great grandsons: many nieces and nephews and her dog Callie. Also surviving are her siblings Lucian (Sally) Maynard, Patricia Jarrell, and Janet (Mark) Duncan.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Della Meade will be held at 1 pm Friday November 15, 2024, in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with Pastor Jon Noggle officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
