David Lee Harper, Sr. 74, of Princeton, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 29, 2024, at his home. Born July 10, 1949, in Asheville, NC., he was the son of the late Harry Harper and Ella Mae Ramsey Harper Meagor. Mr. Harper served his country proudly with the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam Conflict. While serving, he received the Navy Achievement Award for Combat Valor, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Gold Frame, and many other badges and decorations. He was a retired Professional truck driver. While his health permitted, he loved to hunt, ride four-wheelers and was an avid gun collector. Mr. Harper was a member of the Marine Corp League, having been involved with Toys-4-Tots Program. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Charles William Craddock. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Princeton. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Drema Farmer Haper; Children, David Lee Harper Jr. and wife Melissa, Sylvia Cox and husband Charles, Harold Everett Craddock and wife Melissa; Daughter-in-law, Melissa Craddock; Grandchildren, Jonathan and James Terry, Emily and Nathan Craddock; Siblings, Eddie Harper and wife Wanda and Hope Ramsey. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 2, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Sam Vance officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery near Princeton with a military graveside service under the direction of the U.S. Marine Corp League and the Marine Corp Reserve. Friends may call Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be James and Jonathan Terry, Harold and Nathan Craddock, Charles Cox and Tom Reynolds.
