Obituary

David Eugene "Gene" Clark, 82, of Princeton, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025. Born July 30, 1942, at Widemouth, WV. He was the son of the late David Clinton Clark & Arlie Virginia Graham Clark. Upon graduating from Princeton High School in 1960, he received his degree from West Virginia University in Aerospace Engineering. Gene later attended Georgia Tech to earn a Master of Science in Information & Computer Science. Later in life, he earned a degree in Mining Engineering from Bluefield State College.

Gene's foremost devotion was to his beloved family! This devotion caused him to move back to WV after beginning his working career at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in the states of Washington, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Gene worked for Concord College writing grants briefly and spent 33 years as a Mining Engineer. With all of his experience in engineering, the one thing that gave Gene great satisfaction was working and piddling on his farm at Sandlick. He was thankful for the friendships he had established in this tight knit community, this brought him great enjoyment. He really cherished his time with his grandchildren and as the first college graduate in his family, he was extremely proud that his children and grandchildren all earned higher learning degrees. Gene had attended the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings: Charles Clark, Danny "Red" Clark, & Susie Showalter.

Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Mira Andrews Clark, two children, Michael Clark & wife Deborah, Kim Lester & husband Troy. Grandchildren, Shane Lester & partner Amber Scott, Tyler Clark, Jeremy Lester & wife Alexis, Jared Clark & wife Makenzie, Robbie Anderson & wife Lauren, Tori Fouts & husband Austin. Great grandchildren, Amelia & Abigail Lester, Ethan & Adalynn Fouts. Stepsons, Kevin & Rhonda Powell and their son Spencer, Keith & Beth Powell and his daughter Delila.
