Darlena Saunders Ables, 69, of Bluefield, WV died Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at her residence. Born November 8, 1955, in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert Charles "R.C." Saunders and Margaret McKenzie. After graduating high school, Darlena received her Bachelor's Degree from Concord University. She retired from WV Department of Health and Human Resources as a Regional Director. Darlena loved her cats and rescuing cats. She enjoyed reading, traveling and was an amazing decorator. Survivors include her husband of over 40 years, Thomas H. Ables; son, Wyatt Ables and wife, Katie; grandchildren, Annaliese Ables and Amelia Ables; brother, Bobby Saunders and wife, Jaynetta, of Princeton; sisters, Bobbi Saunders Scott and husband, Pat, of Princeton, and Jessica Masterton, Rochester, NY, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 30, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with John Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in Elgood Cemetery, Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
