Dana Winford Hazelwood, 78, of Elgood, departed this life early Sunday morning, March 12, 2023, to be ushered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior. Born November 30, 1944, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Carson and Myrtle Gunter Hazelwood. After high school, Dana entered into service with the U.S. Air Force. He retired from American Electric Power, Glen Lynn Operation with more than 39 years of service. Dana was called into the ministry in 1974. He served as both pastor and evangelist at many churches as well as officiated a multitude of weddings and funerals. He loved his Lord, and truly enjoyed sharing the Gospel with one and all. He was a member of the Princeton Church of God and was pastoring Full Gospel Assembly in Princeton, until he became too ill to continue. Dana was a talented musician who loved 'pickin' the Banjo. He was a master wood worker and had a lifelong passion for learning. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and most of all a Christian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by seven siblings; Illa, Iris, Carson, Charlie, Gaylon Hazelwood, Ronnie Sisk and Wilma Cox. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years, Charlotte Mae Billings Hazelwood; Two children, Christopher Dana Hazelwood, Amy Lynn Boone; Five grandchildren, Alexandra Brook Degbe, Hunter Allen Boone, Christopher Tyler Hazelwood, William Tanner Hazelwood, Kasie Rhianne Hazelwood and one great-grandchild due to arrive in April; One brother, Carl Eugene Hazelwood along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Becky Maynor, Dave Barnett and Joyce Tedder officiating. Burial will follow in the Elgood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Greenbrier Autism Community. P.O. Box 709. Lewisburg, WV 24901. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
