Connie Ray Callison, age 77, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, surrounded by her family and caregivers. Connie was born on April 8, 1945, in Charleston, WV. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Jacob Callison and Ottie Irene Callison. After graduating from Dunbar High School, where she participated in many clubs and organizations, Connie earned an Associate of Science degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology. She also attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where she completed the Research Administrator program. She worked at Virginia Tech as a Grants Administrator, retiring in 2007 after 28 years of service. Connie had a love for arts and crafts. For years she was actively involved in local craft fairs and events. She enjoyed traveling and gardening, and she had a special place in her heart for her cats. Connie is survived by her daughter, Sherri Snead, of Princeton, WV; her son, Brian Shumaker of Pulaski, VA, and his former spouse Julie Farmer, of Christiansburg, VA; grandchildren Lindsay and husband Joseph Streeby of Princeton, WV, and Lauren and her husband Logan Merrix of Narrows, VA;  and great-grandchildren, Emma Streeby and Tyler Streeby of Princeton, WV, and Pete Merrix of Narrows, VA. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Shelby Nelson, Regina Mooney, and Felicia Mills for their tender love and care of our mother during the past several weeks.  We are eternally grateful for your compassion and kindness.
