Charlie Lee Knowles, Sr. 82, of N. Wickham Avenue, Princeton, died Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Lewis Gale Medical in Salem, VA. Born July 7, 1940, in Welch. Charlie was  a graduate of Athens High School retired as a strip miner having worked for Consol Energy after retirement he continued as a heavy equipment operator. He loved running equipment, golfing but most of all, spending time with his family. Charlie loved the Lord and was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on Halls Ridge Road in Princeton. In addition to his adopted parents, Robert (Bobby) Robertson and Pauline Robertson, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Kolosa and a son-in-law, Kenneth Anderson. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Jo Ann Eades Knowles; Two children, Chuck Knowles and Tina Anderson; Two nieces, Kim and Jolenee; Special friends, Dick Perservati, Gary Fuda, James McKenzie and many other friends. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Charlie Knowles will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in the Chapel of  Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors John King, Jim Nofsinger, Dan Thyng and Jim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
