I'm going to apologize in advance for the lack of convention in the obituary , but Carlyle "Lyle" Huntingt on was not a conventional man. He may have left this world on April 27 ^th , 2023, but it is our hope (Carla and Torie) that our dad has left a trail of goodness and memories that will continue to live on. He was proud of all of the things that he was involved in. I assure you we heard all about it, but we were proud of him too. If he saw an opportunity to make a difference (no matter the scale), by hook or by crook it was going to happen. Lyle was born in Schenectady, NY on December 9 ^th , 1934 and met his wife Joyce in Washington, DC. Tired of the big city life, they decided to move their family to a 100 acre farm in Princeton, WV in 1966. After farming for a few years, Lyle took a job with Rockwell International and then ultimately ended up as the manager of the Oakvale Road Public Service District where he retired in 2008. This began fueling his passion for economic development. His involvement in the Mercer-Summers Regional Water Project brought water and sewer to residents and allowed for new business in the area. Lyle was an avid supporter, advocate and fundraiser of many projects such as Child Protect of Mercer County, Children's Home Society, Mercer County Vocational School, MCTEC, Drug Court and the Chuck Mathena Center. Lyle was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 1983 and his son-in-law Bob Keene of Abingdon, VA in 2019. He is survived by his two daughters and their families. Dr. Carla Keene of Abingdon, VA and her two children, Tyler Keene and his wife Brittany of Bristol, TN and Kara Keene of Abingdon, VA. Torie Hughart, her husband Dr. Wayne Hughart and their three daughters, Caroline Hughart and her husband Andres Rivero of Johnson City, TN, Elaina Hughart of Knoxville, TN and Julianne Hughart also of Knoxville, TN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation made in Lyle's memory to one of the many organizations that he so passionately supported.
