Carlina (Carrie) Conte Berentes 90, of Cary, NC, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, with her beloved daughter by her side. Her last days were spent in the comfort of her loved ones including her son and daughter. She was born February 15, 1932, in Bronx, NY to the late Francesco Conte and Maria Demetrio Conte. She graduated from Gary High School and worked as a payroll clerk for US Steel for 13 years. On June 24th, 1961, she married her loving husband, Louis Berentes, of Thorpe, WV at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Gary, WV. They moved to Cary, NC in 2000. While she loved North Carolina, she always missed her family and friends in West Virginia. Carrie was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Cary, NC. Her greatest joy in life was her family. For years, she enjoyed group calls with her sisters. She loved family dinners that were filled with stories of back home. She also loved spending time with her precious granddaughter, Samantha. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Beatrice Jerry, Antoinette Williams, Angelina Bright, Yolanda Pinter, and Luigi Conte. She is survived by her husband, Louis Berentes; 2 children, Mary Berentes of Cary, NC, and Joe Berentes and wife, Pam of Apex, NC, granddaughter, Samantha Berentes of Sneads Ferry, NC; step-granddaughter, Natalie Bagley and husband, Scott of Fuquay-Varina, NC; step-great granddaughter, Amelia Bagley of Fuquay-Varina, NC; sister Aida Ramella and husband Pete, and sisters in law Ann Conte, Theresa Longo, and Mary Haynes and husband Paul, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Friday, October 14, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton, WV, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. with Father Sebastian E. Devasya as the celebrant. Following mass, interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Research at Alzheimers Association, Chapter 1601 2nd Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-3678. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com . The Berentes family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
