Brenda Karen Dunbar, 66 of Bastian, Virginia formerly of Princeton died Friday, January 13, 2023, at her home in the Bland County Nursing and Rehab in Bastian. Born Aug. 21, 1956, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Matherly and Ruby Genieve Coburn Matherly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by an infant sister, Andrea Dawn Matherly and her husband Henry Dunbar. Brenda was a very caring and giving person, she enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and playing Bingo. Survivors include her siblings, Bonita Simpson and husband Mike and Randall Matherly and wife Carolyn. Nieces and nephews, Katrina Dobroski and husband Mike, Greg Atkinson and wife Anglea, Katie Huffstickler and husband Sam, K.C. Matherly and wife Lilja and Kelly Simpson. Granddaughters, Crissy Sheffield, Jamie Collins, and Autumn Edenfield also survive. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton with Minister George Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bland County Nursing and Rehab, 12185 Grapefield Road, Bastian, VA 24134.
