Bonnie Carol
Gillian
Jan 29, 1959 — Feb 15, 2025
Bonnie Carol Lilly Gillian, age 66, of Lerona, WV, passed away Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, surrounded by her family. Bonnie was born on January 29th, 1959 to Buck and Helen Lilly in Princeton, WV. After graduating from Athens High School in 1977, she began work as a dental assistant for Dr. Charles Mann, DDS. In around 1985 she started working alongside her mother in food services at Concord University. In 1990 she began working as a CNA at Princeton Healthcare Center. Then, in her early thirties and as a mother of three, Bonnie started the LPN program at Mercer County Technical School. After graduating in 1992, she continued working at Princeton Healthcare Center as a nurse, and was there for over 20 years. Bonnie admitted proudly, and often, that she had a fondness for the elderly, and that was obvious in the care she provided to her patients over the years. A generous person, Bonnie was always willing to help others when they needed it; whether it be family, friends, or animals (for which she also had a great fondness). She was a faithful mom, Maw-Maw, sister, aunt, and friend; and she will be missed tremendously.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Lilly; and her parents, Buck and Helen Lilly. She is survived by her son George Ian Gillian and his wife Brandy of East Bend, NC; son Sean Gillian and his wife Samantha of Rocky Point, NC; son Thomas Gillian and his wife Shawndy of Yadkinville, NC; daughter Niketa Whittaker of Princeton, WV; sister Retha Wilkerson and her husband Bill of Lerona, WV; Sister Norma Southworth and her husband Charlie of Richmond, VA; brother Daryl Lilly and his wife Sherry of Athens, WV; grandchildren Chasity, Brianna, Natalee, Gabrielle, Kameren, Sawyer, Sebastian, Darby, Ethan, Erik, Mahayla, Zimaria, and Devin; one great-grandchild, Amiah; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 24, 2025 in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Eddie Wimmer officiating.
