Billie Blankenship, 98, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 13,2023, at her home. Billie was born in Athens, WV, to the late Cyril and Minnie Kirtner Steele. Billie's life was fully devoted to the Lord including two years working at Celanese, 43 years at Maidenform, gardening, farming, logging, working at her sawmill, and renting small homes along adventures as an entrepreneur. She was a friend to everyone, but of upmost importance was family and her church family. Billie was known for her generous heart to every walk of life. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cox (Roger); grandchildren, Danny Blankenship, Josh Cox (Amanda), Randall Blankenship, Jamie Kidd (Mike) and step-grandchild, Stefanie Compton (Keith); great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Billie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Watt Blankenship, Jr., son, Danny Blankenship, grandson, Anthony Blankenship, a great-grandson, eleven siblings; Eugene Steele, Buck Steele, Georgia McManaway, Louise Bullard, Vance Steele, and six younger siblings. She was also preceded in death by many friends including special sister-in-law, Patty Bradley. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Billie Blankenship will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 17,2023, at Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on Halls Ridge Road in Princeton, with Pastors John King, Dan Thyng, Jim Nofsinger, and Jim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the church. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The Blankenship family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
