Bill S. Compton, 85, of Athens, died peacefully Friday, July 14, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born March 25, 1938, in Richlands VA, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Exie Shelton Compton.

After graduating from high school, Bill served his country with the U.S. Army.  For over 30 years, Bill was employed with Ruttmann Construction Company, Upper Sandusky OH, and then worked for F N Thompson in Charlotte NC.  He was a faithful member of Salvation Through Christ Church in Princeton.  Billy was a volunteer for Pikeview High School Athletic program, he loved watching football, NASCAR, and golf.  He was proud of his family and loved his church family dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother Gene Compton.

Those left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 59 years, Caroline Maxine Barnett Compton, five children, Katrina Caywood, Craig Compton (Kathy), William "Billy" Compton, Jennifer Sizemore (Mark) and Joey Compton (Sissy), Bill and Caroline were raising two grandchildren as their own, Lilia and Braidyn Sizemore; Ten grandchildren; Ten great- grandchildren; Two brothers, Ronnie Compton (Annette) and Jack Compton (Roni); A host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 20, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Roger Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.  Friends may visit with the family Thursday from noon until the service hour.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com .
