Betty Jean Richards, 91, of Princeton died peacefully Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her daughter’s home with family by her side. Born April 16, 1935, in Glen Lyn Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Jessee Comer & Cora Elizabeth Tanner Comer. Betty was well known in this area for her gift of cooking, especially coconut pies. She had worked at Johnston’s Inn, The Green Tree Restaurant, Jimmy’s on Mercer Street and was currently working at the Dairy Queen in Princeton at the young age of 91. Needless to say, she loved cooking but enjoyed working with her flowers and making people happy.  She enjoyed and loved her time with her dog, Badger and cat, Hemi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband James Ronald Richards, her son James Edward Richards, and grandson, John Kirby Walker, Jr.  She leaves behind her loving children, Wanda Ellison, Rebecca Campbell & husband Randy.  Two grandchildren, Adam Gene Campbell and Angela Ellison.  One brother is Roger Comer and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with her son-in-law, Randy Campbell officiating.
