Betty Jean Gunter,85, departed this life peacefully early Sunday morning, September 22, 2024, at her home with her loving children by her side. Born April 1, 1939, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late George Dewey Goff and Olena Hill Goff.
She retired from the Maidenform Corporation after thirty years of service. Betty was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys working word puzzles, cooking and going shopping. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Bobby L. Gunter, a granddaughter Skylar Gibson and three siblings, Sidney Goff, Arthur "Buddy" Goff and Alice Petry. Those left to cherish her memory, two devoted and loving children, Jerry W. Bradley and wife Cathy, Deirdre B. Gibson; Three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jacob Bradley, Courtney Gibson Tolliver and husband Brett and Eva R. Tindle; Five great-grandchildren, Harper Bradley, Trenton Tolliver, EllaKate Tolliver, Bowen Tolliver and Britton Tolliver; One sister, Audie Goff Carr,; Her in-laws, Stanley and Norma Gunter, Freddie Gunter, Doug Damewood and Jo Goff; Several nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to her care giver, Patty Hart and Hospice Compassus, who have shown love and care for more than two years.
Services to celebrate the life of Betty, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 27, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton with John Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
