Betty Ruth Wood Conner, 74, of Beckley Road, Spanishburg, finished her race early Friday, February 2, 2024, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Her love, determination and perseverance through a prolonged health battle were an example to us all. Betty was a member of Rich Creek Baptist Church, where she served in so many ways. Her greatest joy was keeping the nursery at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Julia Hatcher Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by brothers; Lowayne, John Jr. and Jim, sisters-in-law; Mary, Cheryl & Jane. Betty was a graduate of Spanishburg High School Class of 1967. Those left to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Fred, Children Leroy (Donna) and Melinda, grandsons Austin, Takota and Brandon, and her great grandson Austin Jr.  Also surviving, one brother Don; sisters Wanda (Leslie) and Juanita (Tommy) and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Betty will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor's Jamie Mattox & Ralph Calfee officiating. Burial will follow in the Birchfield Cemetery at Flat Top. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
