Bertha Elsie Greene, 86, of Princeton, formerly of Davy, died peacefully Monday, November 27, 2023, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born February 9, 1937, in Bartley, she was the daughter of the late William Stone and Nalvia Dunford Stone. Educated in McDowell County, she had worked for Warrenizing Cleaners and Lee's Dry Cleaning as well as being a caregiver. Bertha was of the Church of God faith, a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. While her health permitted, she enjoyed reading, studying her Bible and listening to Gospel music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kennie Greene, a son Mark Green, and nine siblings, Bessie Virginia Stone, Kenny Edgar Stone, Ola Cline, Morgan Ball, Perry Fred Stone, Allie Mary Letner, Rena Bradshaw, William Rosevelt Stone a nd Lewis Stone. Those left to cherish her memory, three children and their spouses,  Sylvian Greene (Lois), Bonnie White (Frank) and Mary Jane Williams (Charles); Six grandchildren, Jamie Cutshaver (Jeremy), Anthony Greene, Melissa Jennings, Cynthia Mahaffey, Brianna Williams (Catie) and Priscilla Green and companion Lynttin Smith; Ten great-grandchildren; Two great-great-grandchildren; Two siblings, Juanita Kennedy (Luther) and Brenda Jessie (Phil); Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 4, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Keith Meade officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
