Bernard Ronald
Walker
Mar 9, 1935 — Aug 28, 2023
Bernard Ronald Walker, of Bellview FL, went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 28, 2023. Born on March 9, 1935 in Dott WV, called Ronald by his family and known as Bernie by his friends and co-workers, he served his country in the Navy from 1952 to 1956. On November 2, 1957 he married his beautiful sweetheart Nancy Ruth Hardesty. He then graduated with a degree in accounting from Concord College. After graduating he moved his family to Ohio where he worked for Goodyear and later to North Carolina where he was Head of Corporate Accounting for Colorcraft. He retired from managing the Free Enterprise Accounting Division for the State of North Carolina Department of Prisons. After retiring, Bernard and wife Nancy traveled the country in their fifth-wheel trailer enjoying the beautiful countryside and seeing the sights, making friends and having fun. They later settled in Florida, first at Lady Lake and then in Bellview where he worked at the The Lakes Golf Club as a ranger and starter and continued to play golf - his life-long passion. He loved square dancing, flying and playing cards and dominos with family and friends. He also enjoyed going to the gym and lifting weights and researching genealogy and compiling his family's history. He was adored by his wife, two daughters, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 7 sisters and many nieces and nephews. Bernard was a strong, loving and gentle man whom everyone turned to for advice and wisdom. There truly are no words to describe what a wonderful man he was or how much he was loved and respected by all that were blessed to know him. He was preceded in his journey to Heaven by his father and mother, Eldridge Homer Walker and Nannie Mae Tilley Walker, his sisters Evelyn Gillespie, Dorothy Poff, Dana Pettry, Imogene Wood, Sheila Payne, and his sons-in-law Stephen Ball and Robert Cook. Remaining, to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 65 years Nancy Walker, daughters Natalie Ball and Jennifer Walker, grand-children Ruth Ball and husband Paul, Daniel Ball and wife Michi, Rebecca Shattuck and husband Danny, Geo Ball, Christopher Cook and wife Nina, Matthew McGillavrey and wife Katie, great-grandsons Ethan Moore, Ian Moore, Gideon Shattuck, and sisters Marlene Dillon and Sylvia Kinzer. Visitation will be Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Directory in Princeton WV from 1 to 2 pm with graveside service at the McComas-Crotty Cemetery following.
