Barbara Ella Thomas, 74, of  Twelve Mile Road, Princeton, died peacefully Monday, June 5, 2023, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born August 23, 1948, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late James Thornhill and Dolly Hull Thornhill. For many years, Barbara served as a housekeeper for many families in the area as well as devoting her entire life to serving her Lord by cleaning the Rogers Street Community Church and was known as the First Lady of the church.  She enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. In addition to her parents, he was preceded by her husband, Fred Allen Thomas of 53 years, a son, Brian Thomas, brother Buck Thornhill and a sister Mamie "Tina" Rice. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Timothy Green; Five grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, and Andrew Thomas, Brianna and Brooklyn Alley; One great-grandchild, Houston Lane Smith; Four siblings, Betty Poole, Mary Pitzer, Vickie Young (Melvin) and Michael Thornhill (Karen); Special niece, Regina Weeks; Also surviving are several other nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Pastor Steve Pendleton officiating.  Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:45 A.M.
