Artice Esau Hodges, 78, of Mt. Jackson Heights Road, Athens, died peacefully Monday afternoon, December 9, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born April 1, 1946, at Pageton, he was the son of the late Jacob Hodges and Zona White Hodges.
Art was a long-time employee with the WV Department of Highways with more than 30 years of service, retiring as the County Supervisor. He was a member of the Athens Church of Christ. For many years, Art was active with the Greater Princeton Little League, having served as a coach and board member. While his health permitted, he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, camping, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Myra Faye Hodges, along with six siblings, Tim, Ben, Jim, Mark Hodges, Sallie Fraetis and Sandra Lambert.
Those left to cherish his memory, include his wife Rhonda Lynn Gum Hodges; Three children, Kevin Hodges (JoJo), Richard Hodges (Kim) and Leandra Faye Gill (Ray); Step-children, Josh Lambert and Kylie Clevers; Four siblings, Garnette Ervin, Chuck Hodges (Martha), Kyle Hodges (Carol), Doug Hodges (Debby); Thirteen grandchildren; Four great-grandchildren; A special thanks to Hospice Compassus, T. J. Necessary and Janet.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 12, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with his son Richard Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chuck and Noah Hodges, Roy, Randy and John Gum and Rick Delp.
