Arlie L. Hicks, 92, of Princeton departed this life to be with Leona (Lee) his wife, friend, and the love of his life, on Tuesday November 14, 2023. He was born April 24, 1931, in Lockbridge, W.Va. and was the son of Lawrence and Estie M. Hicks. Arlie graduated from Sandstone High School and was a member of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Monterey from 1950 to 1954. He was a graduate of the Nashville Diesel College and worked 10 years as a mechanic at Walls Chevrolet in Princeton. He was a millwright at Celanese retiring after 25 years of service. The next 18 years Arlie and Lee spent traveling to 49 states and most of Canada camping and having a good time. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, amateur radio and being outdoors tending his apple orchard in Summers County. He was often seen on the Athens Road as well as the Tailgate Market selling his apples. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Leona of 58 years, a sister Gwendolen (Dote) Hicks McGrady, and brothers, Keith and Guy Hicks. Left to cherish his memory is brother Connie Hicks of Biloxi, MS; daughter June Michelle Farley and husband Steve of Princeton; son Terry Mollica and wife Pam of Pompano Beach, FL; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 20, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with John Puckett, speaking. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent to the family via www.memorialfd.com. The Hicks family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
